EQ

EQ?

Why is it that the most successful professionals and celebrities fail miserably when it comes to their own personal life? A deep heart searching will possibly hint toward one basic reason, the IQ (intelligence quotient) is given a lot of exercise, but the  EQ (emotional quotient) is not nurtured enough.

Evolution of consciousness is slowly bringing us where only those who will be truly celebrated are those who can balance their left and right hemispheres of the brain, the IQ and EQ, complementing each other. Digitized reason and loving heart will join in a ballet of pure elegance.

Team

Team

A team is not a group of people who work together. A team is a group of people that rust each other.”

Is n’t it the trust that binds the souls together to take a plunge? Team spirit emerges out of the team member’s trust in the divine potentials of each person and the mutual encouragement of the positive powers that help completion of the task without many hurdles.

The collective good cannot suffer due to the negligence of one or two members of a team. So, be positive, be clear as to the standards, be fair and set the stage for the group members to develop trust in each other.  Recognize and celebrate everyone’s contribution and you will be the beacon for your team.

Teamwork is essentially founded on team Spirit.

Learning & Humility

Learning & Humility

Learning goes hand-in-hand with humility. Lack of humility and learning don't belong in the same room. Humility is not the mark of meekness. Humility doesn't mean that you put the other person on a pedestal and you seek a low position. On the contrary, humility implies a certain amount of alertness, a mind that is keen to know and learn.

The world is witnessing a change all the time and the change is happening at a frenetic pace. We can observe ourselves what we are only in our relations with other human beings. A person who isolates himself from another human being becomes neurotic. So we must give as much time, energy and thought to our relationships as we can.

Sadly, most of us choose to be shown the way rather than finding the way ourselves. We find it uninteresting to inquire, ponder, question, learn, so we take refuge in someone else's ideology. What we don't realize is that a mind that follows in someone else's footsteps becomes a mind that's second-hand. Such a mind can't come face to face with its complexities, its prejudices, its weaknesses.

YOU BECOME WHAT YOU THINK YOU ARE ....... Thought of the DAY

Rome was not built in a day. Every masterpiece requires efforts to make things perfect.
The path to success or achieving a goal is never easy. Every task or goal has its unique challenges and roadblocks. Merle Miller says: “Everyone has his burden. What matters is how you carry it.”

Paramhansa Yogananda says that man’s brain is full of ‘cant’s’ which have to be cauterised in order to be successful in life. You have within you the power to accomplish everything you want; that power lies in the will. It is therefore of paramount importance that one should analyse dispassionately one’s thought patterns for at least 15 minutes every day.

So one must Believe in Himself / Herself, so put all the energy in your desired GOAL.

Good companies show career progression to prospective employees

To ensure success in one’s career, it is very critical to select an employer who reflects and supports your values and career objectives. So, what’s the mantra to identify a good organisation?

A good organisation showcases a clear company vision, technology / business road map, career progression through real-time data points and their culture to prospective employees. Culture is normally the only differentiating factor. It is easy to copy technology, but not an organisation’s culture.
For advising fresh graduates on selecting the ‘right’ employer, expert suggest that it is important to join a company that nourishes fresh talent through specialized training programs and provides fresher a good transition into the corporate world. As for a fresher their first employer plays a big role in moulding them into a thorough professional. Here comes the mantra - “Look for an employer who gives you a visibility into your career progression options starting with your year as a freshman.”
Another question which is usually asked by fresher- Is it better to work with big organisations or small organisation. Experts say that big organisations normally offer very good exposure on systems, processes and learning resources. Whereas, small organisation’s offer roles with more ownership and normally includes a wider scope within the role. Irrespective of size, a job seeker also needs to look at the company’s vision and financial stability while seeking employment.
All in all, you should work for an organisation that offers you a good role with learning and career progression opportunities, along with a good working culture.

Tuning to the Rhythm of Life

Tuning to the Rhythm of Life

  1. We human beings are not here to exist aimlessly to the whims of destiny. There is a purpose for every thing so is for our living. Good & evils, happiness & misery exist in the mind of the observer. The conditioning of the mind is dictated by the manner in which we live. Life style affects the state of mind for it would impact all his perceptions & circumstances.
  2. Only self knowledge can eliminate our miseries. Self knowledge can be achieved by living right. There are four main purposes of human life:

-          Moral Perfection

-          Worldly Attainment

-          Fulfillment of Legitimate Desires

-          Liberation.

  1. Moral perfection is possible only when we live in tune with moral self thereby always being in tune with the rhythm of life. In that process we get full support of providence to evolve because nature is always inclined towards progression. With righteous way of living, all our behaviors become constructive & life enhancing.

  1. When we have harmonious connection with the universe, it provides all our needs. Everything required in life unfolds naturally & spontaneously. We should cultivate faith that whatever is happening is for our ultimate good. Impatience does not have sanction of nature & providence.

  1. When our life enhancing& legitimate desires are fulfilled, life is fulfilling & enjoyable. That is the stage when one can devote to higher learning & purposes. As spiritual beings we have the ability to have our desires fulfilled by gentle intention. As spiritual beings we cannot be satisfied only living a life of contentment, worldly attainment & having desires fulfilled. If the spiritual unfolding of our conscious does not take place, the attainment of three purposes will still not be purposeful & towards logical conclusion of a life. The first three purposes once fulfilled make our life satisfying for the devotion towards fourth purpose.
  2.
    6.    The fourth   purpose that is liberation is the focal point of our living. All four purposes  are  interconnected & interdependent. As we march with dedication, we get full support of all elements of nature.

Can We Over look Life Skills?

As the wind of globalization blow with fierce speed, we witness  stiff collisions & neck to neck competition in professional domains. Today run of the mills, conventional & fatigued ways will not help in solving issues resting on growing quagmire of complexities & ever increasing trickiness. The organizations have upped the ante to explore innovative practices, talent & technology to ensure fulfillment of business objectives.
Organizations are not legging in realizing that it is people on both sides who are important. It is people who can make difference to the business fortunes by their interaction with customers. People can make the difference not only because of knowledge & professional skills but because of the presentation & implementation of the same which is possible on account of temperamental stability, flexibility, attitudinal orientations & leadership qualities which have direct impact on cross cultural dimensions & communications.  Communication consciousness with thoughts consciousness has become the need of the hour to reap the benefits of formal education where the role of teachers, mentors & trainers has a lot to contribute.
Amazing developments & mind boggling changes in all dimensions in personal & business landscapes have brought spectacular impact on organization settings.

Life skills have become utmost important tools to combat threats emanating from growing pursuits for materialism & physical comforts & achieve individual excellence & organizational effectiveness.

What they forgot was how to "make" life while they got busy making money !  Money in
itself is not evil.. It's only a medium of exchange ;  we need two kinds of education --
one that teaches us HOW TO MAKE A LIVING... and the second HOW TO LIVE ?

Many of us get so engrossed in professional life that we neglect our family, health and social
responsibilities !  However, our kids are sleeping when we leave home and they are again
sleeping when are back home.   25 years later, we will turn back and they will be gone to
pursue their own dreams and lives !

We have great lessons to learn from a Ship !   WITHOUT WATER, A SHIP CANNOT
MOVE.  IT NEEDS WATER, BUT IF THE WATER GETS INTO THE SHIP, IT
WILL FACE EXISTENTIAL PROBLEM !  WHAT WAS A 'MEANS OF LIVING'
BECOMES A 'MEANS OF DESTRUCTION'  !

SIMILARLY, WE LIVE IN TIME WHERE EARNING IS A NECESSITY, BUT LET
NOT THE EARNING ENTER OUR HEARTS--- FOR WHAT WAS ONCE A MEANS
OF LIVING WILL SURELY BECOME A MEANS OF DESTRUCTION FOR US
AS WELL  !

So, take a moment and ask yourself --  'HAS THE WATER ENTERED YOUR SHIP ? "
==============================================================

THERE ARE TWO WAYS TO BE FOOLED --  ONE IS TO BELIEVE WHAT IS
NOT TRUE....  THE OTHER IS TO REFUSE TO BELIEVE WHAT IS TRUE ... !

DON'T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU HEAR !  BEWARE OF REAL EYES....REALIZE.....
REAL LIES !

GOD GIVES AND FORGIVES  !    MAN GETS & FORGETS !

Happy Rongali Bihu

Rongali Bihu: The Assamese New Year Celebration

Bihu is the national festival of Assam which, also known as Bohag or Rongali Bihu happens in mid April. Rongali Bihu comes with the first showers of the season, the sweet call of the cuckoo, the hanging blooms of purple kapou flower adorning the trees, the bhebel creepers in full bloom creating an enchanting kaleidoscope of colours and the fragrant breeze transforming the atmosphere into a heavenly paradise. The word ‘Rongali’ originates from the word ‘Rong’ meaning colours and signifies happiness and un-bound celebrations and is expressed through dances, songs and other festivities. It’s a time of merriment and feasting.

Rongali Bihu's significance to the people of Assam is same as that of Ugadi for the people of Karnataka or Andhra Pradesh or of Gudi Padwa for the people of Maharashtra or by many different names for different states, minus the religious aspect. Bihus, three in total, are the most important of festivals celebrated in Assam and Rongali Bihu is the most popular of them. Its significance is threefold: one, it marks the onset of a new harvest cycle; two, it marks the first day of the New Year according to the Hindu calendar; and three, it marks the beginning of spring season, which is considered an ideal time to leave the past behind and start afresh with new mindset. With all this in place, however, its significance remains more on the agricultural side. Great enthusiasm runs among the people and is expressed in the form of dances, songs, and other festivities.

Importance of Rongali Bihu:

Known as Bohag Bihu too, it is celebrated over a period of several days in the month of April, generally around the 15th, also the first month according to the Assamese calendar. The first day is dedicated to the cattle and livestock. Cows and bulls are given a ritual bath in the nearby ponds or river banks with a paste of freshly harvested turmeric and black gram. Also the old cattle ropes are cast away through the legs and new ropes are tied to them and on this day, they are freed and are allowed to roam anywhere for the whole of the day. It's like a thanksgiving ritual to the cattle for providing the people with dairy products. A ritual song is also sung while giving them a bath that asks them to be healthy and productive. From the next day, celebrations begin that go for a several days.

During these days, Assam can be seen engulfed in the celebrations with hundreds of young men and women perform Bihu dances on Bihu folk music (Bihu Geets) and sing to the tune of drums, gagana, toka, pepas (flute made of buffalo horns). But before it starts, people get cleaned up, wear new clothes, and infuse themselves with new found energy to go in the New Year. On this day, people also pay respect to their elders by presenting them with Gamosas, which are traditional Assamese hand woven cotton towels with red designs. Also, community feats are organized, sweets and greetings are exchanged with neighbors, relatives, and friends; and traditional dishes like Pitha Larus (made f rice and coconut) and Jolpan are prepared. For each day of the celebrations, different events are organized. The colorful zeitgeist, with which the whole festival is celebrated and concluded, makes it one of the most endearing festivals to be a part of.

LIfe & rest

Life is always giving you more energy: the more you use your forces, the more you grow…
It is dangerous to take rest. Life is so short and if we spend maximum time taking rest, what are we making of it? Why blame fate then? We are not meant to get tired.

Rest signifies low attitude of life. It invites inertia.

As we detach ourselves from consciousness by taking on personal agendas, ideas & approach we become tired fast. Tiredness signifies selfish   orientation in life.

Lt Col Atul Tyagi

Fate

Write your fate with your own hands. We have potential to even re write it down. All you need to know is what you want to do with your life. Write it down. Your fate is what you want to become.

Your soul is the highest truth in you. That soul has a power to do whatever you want. You can manoeuvre out your soul by saying , “This is my fate, this is what I want to do with my life”. But when people are not aware, conscious, then negative forces make your fate.

Lt Col Atul Tyagi

Rest

Do not confuse rest with sleep. Sleep is a force, it is a

living, live force. There are two forces which give us

energy: one is the force of sleep, and the other is food

which we eat. When sleep is good, then you wake up

with more energy, full of life.

Use both with discrimination and respect.

"Henry Ford'' HUMAN or a MAN ?

"Henry Ford''

Inspiration

When a young man asked Mr. Henry Ford for guidance to be as successful and  rich as him, the reply Mr. Henry Ford gave can provide inspiration to all those who are ambitious to acquire materialistic success.

Ford said, “Maintain your honesty at any cost and strive in the profession with hard-work and strongly positive attitude”.

Ford started his career as a simple automobile mechanic and reached the highest peak of success only through hard-work. He is considered the pioneer and founder of the entire automobile industry. At the time of setting up his factory, he cherished a dream to produce a car so cheap that each of his employees can afford it. In the year 1930, each car that rolled out was costing 300 $ and the 70,000 cars that stood before the factory gate belonged to the people who worked inside the factory.

Henry was believed to be the richest person in the world by the time of his death in the year 1937. He always championed peace and brotherhood. By establishing the Ford Foundation, he showed his generosity and compassion. This billion dollar institute is sincerely engrossed in acts of humanity and charity for the deprived.

Resume Writing - An essential art

This being my first blog at IILM; I would like to link it to my core subject & students - thus making me select a topic which is vital for individual growth.

Many people find it difficult to write about themselves when preparing a resume, and the importance of having a compelling resume in today’s tough employment market isn’t making the task any easier.

Teaming up with a partner to work on each other’s resume can help, particularly on the qualifications summary or other introductory statement, which is often the most challenging part of a resume.

To help students get over this hurdle, have them pair off and start by providing each other with the basic facts about qualifications, work histories, education, and career objectives. Then have them meet in person or online for an informal interview, in which they ask each other questions to flesh out the data they have on each other. With that information in hand, each student then writes a qualifications summary for his or her partner. (The qualifications summary is usually the best type of introductory statement for student resumes. The classic career objective is falling out of fashion, and most students don’t have a long enough professional history to write a meaningful career summary.) Students then review what their partners have written about them, asking themselves whether it feels true to what they believe about themselves and their career aspirations, whether it introduces them effectively to potential employers, and how it might be improved.

In addition to making progress toward a completed resume, this activity gives students the opportunity to practice a number of vital skills, including active listening, constructive feedback and self-awareness (comparing one’s self image with another person’s perspective). So with this, we are simultaneously working on two activities and further implementing on shared feedback.

COMMUNICATION AS A PERSONALISED TOUCH

Does the present wired world of email, tweets and text messages spell the end of the traditional hand written note? I guess not, for there are certain experiences that are incomparable ,time tested and unique! The simple joy and pleasure of receiving a handwritten note; written perhaps by an appreciative father or even your boss can be as one such instance. It conveys so much more depth in feeling and intent ;something no amount of an email can ever replicate.
Which reminds me of an interesting episode, several years ago when my superior officer,a General, broke precedence and personally wrote a Noting on a file that was being processed with a certain Ministry. The 'babus' at the Ministry though otherwise traditional, were surprised to receive a hand written note! They rang up immediately to enquire (sarcastically) whether our office had run out of computer stationery! It was only when they were told that the handwritten note was ,done deliberately to give necessary weightage and a personalised touch to the case ,did they realise its actual import. They cleared the case immediately! Such is the power of the written word!
While emails ,I guess will continue,we should nevertheless not lose touch with our past, and should occasionally also communicate through the written note. The positive impact of a well crafted letter of appreciation will linger in permanence which an email may not achieve!
So the next time don't always reach out for your laptop when you want to say something nice _ go for the pen instead!

    Success: Wide Spectrum Paradigm
Lt Col Atul Tyagi
03 Apr 2013

Success paradigms have wide spectrum such as being rich, celebrity, popular, influential or recognized. Based on approval of others, you start deeming yourself success full. Internally you have not bothered to assess your success.

With your being materially & socially well endowed & entrenched to the hilt, will you consider yourself successful if following conditions prevail at your end.

That your family is not in agreement with you.
That your son feels emotionally left out due to your maltreatment.

That your wife feels betrayed or belittled.

That your parents feel that they have no place in your scheme of things.
That you had no time for your family.

That you are considered by your friends & relatives slippery, peevish & short tempered who may insult someone at the drop of a hat.

That you are not refined in your dealings in society, carry only skewed values with asymmetrical growth as human being
Based on the extent of quantity and quality achieved in narrow fields, one starts getting known as more successful or less successful or just about successful.

 Thought No 1

Lt Col Atul Tyagi

(02 Apr 2013)

1.    The strength of positive thought is 100 times more than negative thought. One of the ways to easily change your thought process or pattern is by  being aware of how you feel.

2.    Our thoughts create our feelings. When we feel negative; angry, resentful, jealous that is the trigger for you to decide to change.

That is the time you choose positive statement, “All is well in my world.” The attempt to associate with this thought is to be done on repeated basis. As soon as the negative thought is about to swamp you, you make a pause & let the positive thought do its needful influence on your thinking process.

SAIL share sale fully subscribed; govt raises Rs 1521 crore

State-owned steel major SAIL share sale issue was fully subscribed as per provisional data available on the exchanges on Friday.

SAIL OFS got bids for 24.13 crore shares compared to 24.03 crore shares on offer as of 03:30 pm. The OFS was subscribed 100.40 per cent at an indicative bid price of Rs 63.07 per share.

SAIL closed 0.7 per cent lower at Rs 63.40. It has hit a record 4-year low of Rs 63.10 and a high of Rs 63.70 in trade today.

The government, which is selling its 5.82 per cent stake in the company, have raised about Rs 1,521 crore from the stake sale.

"The auction, if subscribed fully, would take the proceeds from disinvestment in this fiscal to at least Rs 23,800 crore, the highest ever realisation on disinvestment front in a single year," PTI reported.

It would be, however, a tad less than the revised estimates of Rs 24,000 crore.

Shares of SAIL have been under pressure in the year 2013 and have already corrected nearly 30 per cent so far in the calendar year hit by weak demand for steel across the globe.

Along with weak demand, reduced infrastructure spending and abysmally low sales figures in the auto sector have affected demand for both long and flat steel.
